I am on the fence about electric bikes. I think they look cool, but I don’t really know what I’d do with one yet. I am also worried that the battery in an electric bike is more fragile than the battery in a gasoline-powered vehicle. I’m not sure if it’s just me or if that’s a concern for electric bikes. It’s worth a closer look.
It is a common complaint about electric bikes that they are not well insulated. The battery packs in electric bikes are often made of metal. Even if your battery is made of plastic, it isn’t going to be as resistant to the heat and sun exposure that comes with riding your bike. I have seen some pretty serious explosions in electric bike batteries.

A gasoline-powered vehicle typically has a fairly high mileage. So a person with less than 500 miles on their electric bike will have a fairly high average fuel consumption. If you have 500 or more on your electric bike then you might want to look into a hybrid vehicle.

Electric bikes are a little bit harder to understand than hybrids, but that doesn’t mean they are less powerful. All you really need to know for a bike with a motor that can only be used for one thing is that it has to be powerful enough to do that thing.
